Grid regulator says Iberia-like power outage unlikely in Germany as Europe investigates causes

Germany is unlikely to face the kind of massive power outage which hit Spain and Portugal on 28 April, as the country’s system is based on redundancies and many safeguard measures are in place, said grid agency BNetzA. The two countries on the Iberian Peninsula are still investigating the cause of the blackout, but the event has already kickstarted a wider debate about grid stability and interconnections across Europe.
